Default Movie soundtracks

I'm listening to the Gladiator soundtrack right now, and it's pretty hawt. I've heard good things about the Braveheart, Last of the Mohicans and Backdraft soundtracks. Any other recommendations?

The Scarface soundtrack is one the bestest, that is if you like 80s music. The Kill Bill soundtracks also have some decent music as well as The Rock (Hans Zimmer again).

Thin Red Line, The Fountain (amazing), Edward Scissorhands, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Friday Night Lights (basically an explosions in the sky record), Requiem for a Dream and K-Pax all have great soundtracks. I'll post again when I think of some more.

Rushmore and The Life Aquatic both have good soundtracks, but with less memorable original material.

[EDIT]I can upload shit later, but I won't be home in a couple of days where i gots my mp3 collection.

The Hulk soundtrack is actually pretty damn good.

I love ambient music (does that make Kid A gay?), so I am constantly searching in vain for the soundtrack to Solaris (yes, the George Clooney remake movie) and The Fountain. Those soundtracks are just perfect for me.

With some simple use of the search function you're bound to find far more incriminating indications of my gayness than ocassionally showing love for Danny Elfman and Joe Hisashi.

While not an original score, the Boogie Nights soundtrack is a great collection of 70s and 80s pop music.

Memento has a wonderfully dark main theme. Also liked Frailty's theme.

Gollum's song from LOTR was pretty spiff.

Josh Groban's song for Troy "Remember Me." That's closer to the Gladiator type mood, very powerfully sung and kick ass.

I like the soundtracks to Zach Braff vehicles for softer listening. Josh Radin/Schuyler Fisk "paperweight" duet is very easy listening.

'last of the mohicans' is good. there's a cd of a bunch of ennio morricone's stuff (he did all those sergio leone spaghetti westerns). there's some really great stuff by angelo badalamenti, too ('twin peaks' was his stuff).

Similar to the ones you cite, none come to mind -- at least not named. I have listened to some, but I cannot recall.

Braff was mentioned, but I will go ahead and outright recommend Garden State.

It's a two-CD set. I'm sure it's on my hard drive somewhere, along with The Mission, and a few others.

Shit I listen to on a regular basis:

- The afforementioned Angelo Badalementi/David Lynch collaborations (Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet, Lost Highway, etc.)

- Early John Carpenter film scores, particularly Halloween and Escape From New York

- Jerry Goldsmith's score for Logan's Run

- The soundtrack to the original 1971 version of Vanishing Point; not the god damn 1997 remake with Jason fucking Priestley as Super Soul(?!)

- Lalo Schiffrin's Bullitt score

- Much of the work of Italian prog-rock group Goblin, in their frequent collaborations with Dario Argento on films like Suspiria and Zombi (Dawn of the Dead)

- Unreleased Soundtrack Music from Dawn of the Dead - Ironically enough, released in 2004. Not the Goblin score, the incidental music that plays throughout the movie. Especially "The Gonk".

- 2001: A Space Odyssey, though I usually just listen to the title track then skip ahead to the sound effects suite/HAL dialogue excerpts.

- Conan the Barbarian

- Braindead, a.k.a. Dead Alive

- Yeah, fuck it, I'm a nerd. The Star Wars soundtrack.

- Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo. Or, you know, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly if I'm not feeling pretentious.

- Rocky IV. On cassette.

A few more:
  • Pulp Fiction: In the underground/ex-pat scene in the 1990s, this was it. You could spend six months in India, and then take a bus to some little mountain village near the Bhutan border, and there'd be some Australian chick rocking this tape/CD, holding a tola of pot and a love for anyone who hated the status quo.
  • Blade Runner: It was always a good soundtrack, but it got a bump when the Director's Cut came out, and again in the summer of 1994, when it was released on CD. It was HUGE in Europe.
  • 2001: Stanley Kubrick always had a way with soundtracks. Here, you can see his love for 20th-century music really taking its course. He originally used Also Sprach Zarathustra and the other 20th-century compositions as an inspiration for the film score. The film score sucked, so Kubrick just used the original music.
  • Black Sheep Squadron: No love for Pete Carpenter? What about CHiPs? The A-Team? Magnum P.I.? Knight Rider? You all suck!

Hey Rubio how long is the Twin Peaks CD? I have a copy on my computer but it's only like twelve tracks, but I would guess that since this is split into three parts it's much more expansive?

Thank you Mr. Rubio. You are doing the Lord's work and will surely be compensated with many virgins upon your death, which hopefully won't be for a 1000 years.

oh yeah, the 'kill bill 1' soundtrack is great (at the moment, i don't remember anything about the second movie. i guess i'll watch it tomorrow). 5-6-7-8's are lots of fun.
